Njegov najizrazitiji ciklus i najveći individualni domet nalazimo u empatijski uhvaćenim, fizionomijski specifičnim i psihološki naročito uvjerljivim portretima, posebno iz okružja javnog života, urbane scene i prijateljskih susreta.
THE MILOVAN STANIĆ DONATION
Milovan Stanić (1929 – 1989), a native of Omiš, moved to Dubrovnik with his family early on, which is why he is now included in the circle of the best of Dubrovnik painters. After graduating from the Dubrovnik Maritime Technical School, he enrolled at the Zagreb Academy of Fine Arts, which he left after freshman year. However, his artistic passion and eagerness to embark on a wide sea of creativity very quickly validated him as a talented portraitist and a skilled evocator of the urban atmosphere. We find his most expressive cycle and greatest individual reach in empathetically captured, physiognomically specific and psychologically convincing portraits, especially within the public life domain, the urban scene and friendly encounters. Milovan’s journey from Omiš, via Dubrovnik, led him – so we learn – to New York, where he died, but the cosmopolitan and the fashionable component of his expression should not overshadow his true presence in the local context.
Honoring the wish of Milovan Stanić, his son Radovan has donated the works of art of his late father to the City of Omiš, to preserve a permanent mark of his origin and artistic creativity in his beloved homeland.
